Drink - 21 December
We had our office party on Thursday. And it was good. I got a pair of fluffy dice for my car, a large meal and a feed of drink. My boss was is a good mood as two unexpected orders came through to contribute to the sales figures and there was champagne drunk. No-one snogged anyone and no-one photocopied their bum either. Although to do that they would have had to barge into the restaurants office, find a photocopier and appropriate it. On Friday, Paddy had a little christmas thing with his play school, but he didn't seem to like the size of the audience. But he mumbled along with Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and Twinkle, twinkle, little star. I can't remember why I didn't update on Friday night. Tiredness probably. Saturday I did some household type things and then jumped into the car to go to Galway. Four hours, door to door, which is pretty good. Myself and a mate went boozing and then after a big breakfast this morning, I left to come home again. I don't see these guys very often and really, it's not such a big deal to jump in the car for a bit of a session and then come home. A four hour drive is only and hour more than I do in the car every day commuting to work after all. And the route I take is quite pretty and takes me through parts of the country I don't know at all, really. So it's good to do the odd time, and I'll be doing it again. There's a pub in Galway that has the same name as my mother's maiden name and when I was young I saw a picture of it on some Pubs of Ireland poster or other. I always wanted to have a drink there and indeed we did. Although only the one as there were no seats and it was very crowded. My mother wouldn't have liked it I don't think. But still, it's not every day you realise a childhood dream. |
